Our Story
Akamai is the Hawaiian word for "smart," and our mission is to provide you with the smartest choice for your car rental here on our beautiful island of Kauai!
My wife and I were both school teachers here on Kauai. We have 5 wonderful children! During the pandemic, we started our car rental business. We started with my wife's van because she and our youngest 3 boys walked to school every morning. It snowballed from there, and now we have a mini fleet and have turned it into a family business.
Even though our island is small, there are a million things to do and see here. My wife has lived here almost her entire life and I have lived here for over 8 years. Together we have lots of recommendations for the best beaches, places to eat, and local activities—just ask!
